The fabulous Orsay museum. The
building was originally erected on site cleared by the Communards during the
period of the Paris Commune - when they burned the government legal records/tax
building. It was then turned into an exhibition space and rebuilt as the
Orleans train station - which it functioned as until the early 1930's when the
electric trains got too long for the sidings in the building. On either
side are galleries of paintings.
