The next day we went to Manzanar National Monument outside of Bishop.  Manzanar was one of several internment/prison camps for Japanese Americans during WWII .  The National Park Service has done an outstanding job with the site and the subject.  They have broadened the scope beyond just a dry presentation of dates and facts and instead have presented a very non-judgmental presentation civil rights at the time and connected it to the current issues raised by the War on Terror
