{"id":1367,"date":"2017-06-18T12:33:18","date_gmt":"2017-06-18T12:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sixthelement.org\/wordpress1\/?p=1367"},"modified":"2017-06-18T12:33:18","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T12:33:18","slug":"recent-trip-to-california","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sixthelement.org\/wordpress1\/2017\/06\/18\/recent-trip-to-california\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent trip to California"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just got back from a short trip to California. \u00a0Besides normal things like meeting up with friends, checking in on things in the office, we had a work BBQ. \u00a08 folks from our office in Pune India are over visiting for training and the team self organized a wonderful BBQ at Shadow Cliffs Recreation Area in Pleasanton, CA. \u00a0I think it is a re-use of a former gravel pit (there is a cement and gravel company up the road). \u00a0A wonderful place for families &#8211; there is a swim area with full lifeguard support that very gradually goes out into the lake and the water is warm.<\/p>\n<p>We had about 60 people show up and I was so busy chatting and flipping burgers and dogs on the grill, I forgot to take any people shots. \u00a0All I personally took was when I took a brief walk to check out the rest of the lake<\/p>\n<p>Coming back to New England was a bit of a shock. \u00a0May 2017 was the 5th wettest month on record and was cold (40&#8217;s and 50&#8217;s mostly). \u00a0When I left for California it was mid forties &#8211; stepping out of the airport on my return, it was 97 degrees and very humid. \u00a0Driving home (around 5:00pm at this point) &#8211; I was heading south on Rte 95 when I passed through a thunderstorm. \u00a0Sheeting down rain and in 1\/3 of a mile the temperature dropped from 98 degrees to 81 degrees! \u00a0The storm was only 1 mile wide and then the temp shot back up again on the other side. \u00a0Very weird!<\/p>\n<p>Summer is finally coming!<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 {\n\t\t\t\tmargin: auto;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 .gallery-item {\n\t\t\t\tfloat: left;\n\t\t\t\tmargin-top: 10px;\n\t\t\t\ttext-align: center;\n\t\t\t\twidth: 33%;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 img {\n\t\t\t\tborder: 2px solid #cfcfcf;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 .gallery-caption {\n\t\t\t\tmargin-left: 0;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t\/* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes\/media.php *\/\n\t\t<\/style>\n\t\t<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-1367 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><dl class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<dt class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='http:\/\/sixthelement.org\/wordpress1\/img_0832\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/sixthelement.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_0832-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-1356\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/dt>\n\t\t\t\t<dd class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-1356'>\n\t\t\t\tShadow Cliffs Recreation Area with Mt Diablo in the background.
